Grayson Cavity Stop Socks restrict the spread of smoke and flames within the cavity of external masonry facades. They are ideally suited for providing a cavity barrier within the external wall cavity, in line with a separating wall or floor as specified in Approved Document B, and for closing the cavity at eaves level.
What are Cavity Stop Socks?
Cavity Stop Socks are strips made from non-combustible rock fibre mineral wool, that is then encased within polythene ‘sock’ that protects the mineral wool during installation.
Purpose of Cavity Stop Socks
Cavity Stop Socks offer up to 4-hour fire integrity and are specifically designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke in concealed cavities within external masonry and timber-framed walls. They are typically used in terraced, semi-detached, low-rise apartments, but can be found in range of fire and smoke applications. Additionally, they can also be used to help control sound transmission at wall junctions and provide excellent acoustic insulation.
