Raise Site Quality Standards – Prove Building Safety Competency – Avoid Costly Future Claims
At Grayson (GB) Ltd, our innovative skills aren’t exclusively saved for our products; they’re also put to use for rising industry standards across the board.
We’re proud to have been at the forefront of a ground-breaking initiative – the Visqueen Registered Installer Scheme for damp proof course (DPC) installation.
After identifying a clear gap in the industry for formal DPC installer accreditation, we started conversations with Visqueen to see how we could develop a solution. This discussion stemmed from our experience of supporting contractors and supply chains across the UK, where we’ve seen first-hand the importance of ensuring DPC is installed correctly the first time.
Following our discussions with Visqueen, a nationally recognised course that provides professional installers with third-party assessed competence in DPC installation was created.
The one-day course, which is backed by Visqueen, delivered by the National Masonry Training Academy, and approved by CITB, is a specialised training initiative for all brickwork contractors across the UK and is designed to:
- Enhance installer competence
- Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2021
- Mitigate the risk of future claims
What’s more, it’s a very flexible course; it combines theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience, there are no formal prerequisites, and training can be delivered on-site or at one of the affiliated training centres.
Ultimately, this course helps contractors, housebuilders, and clients mitigate risks, improve accountability, and ensure higher levels of compliance and safety across UK construction sites.
Key benefits for installers and contractors:
- Raise site quality standards – By completing the training, all contractors will be able to correctly install DPC the first time around, which helps to increase industry standards and reduce remedial work.
- Prove building safety competency – With the Visqueen Register of Approved Installers – Continuous On-site Competency App, those who complete the training can verify their skills and qualifications.
- Avoid costly future claims – The course also helps eliminate the risk of poorly installed DPC, which can lead to damp issues and structural complications and cost firms thousands of pounds.
The Registered Installer Scheme gives everyone, be it contractor, housebuilder or client, peace of mind that every installer on your project has the necessary training and is committed to delivering the highest levels of quality, compliance and safety.
